If you struggle with how your complexion looks because of rosacea, sun damage, or dark spots, Beyond Esthetics can offer you a skin analysis at our Annandale, VA office to determine if you'll benefit from IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy. An IPL photofacial is a skin rejuvenation treatment for adult women and men with redness or hyperpigmentation concerns on their face and neck. A photofacial may not be invasive, but it can be highly effective and produce great outcomes. Dr. Leonel Perez sends intense pulses of light energy that warm the skin cells to ignite the natural healing process and increase collagen production. In time, you should begin to see a healthier layer with an improved tone and decreased dark spots and redness. Our team employs Harmony XL PRO technology from Alma Lasers to carry out IPL skin treatments that can help renew your skin.

A photofacial is done inside our Annandale, VA office in around 20 – 30 minutes in one of our minor procedure rooms. To start the treatment, your technician will clean and dry the skin to be treated before protecting your eyes with special shields. The photofacial is administered using the handheld Harmony XL PRO device that will pass over the skin while emitting pulses of light energy. While many patients may feel mild discomfort throughout the IPL photofacial, it's usually bearable for the fast treatment time.

I had a real “treat yourself” moment – I didn’t want a facelift, so we’re doing a combination therapy! Laser skin resurfacing, collagen contouring, a little IPL, and a combo of tox and filler. I started back in January and the results are giving me a decade back at least. The staff at Beyond Esthetics were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful during my initial consultation. They took the time to understand my concerns and recommended the perfect treatment for me. I'm so happy with the results!

I've been getting laser skin resurfacing treatments at Beyond Esthetics for a few months now, and the results are amazing. My skin looks brighter and more even, my acne scarring is nearly gone, and the staff is always so friendly and professional.

I’ve been seeing Kam for my laser treatments and hydrafacials. I’ve had such a great and painless experience. The office is clean and beautiful and the staff is amazing! Won’t go anywhere else.

I came to Beyond Esthetics in search of some help for a breakout that just wouldn't go away [pardon the gross picture of the "breakout"]. I had tried everything and it covered my jaw, up the side of my face, and down my neck onto my chest. I saw Allison, a nurse practitioner there, and she treated me with an IPL treatment called Dye-VL. About an hour or so after the treatment I was already less red and inflamed, and a week post-procedure, my skin was so clear! She explained that the treatment killed the bacteria in my skin and constricted the vascular response which helped the redness, it was a sort of snappy feeling but not painful - for my skin to look like this? I'll be back for another treatment soon!!

Heads up !! The results will vary from person to person according to the type of skin, the maturity of the skin, even the quality of the skin, and the overall health of it I recommend consultation with a provider I started with some black spots on cheeks (melasma) I must mention that I never been great at taking care of my skin, thinking that my face was going to take time to look old ..boy was so wrong!! to try to save my face, I started with some Hydro facial. I never had anything like this before in my life, I literally got the exfoliating that It feel like Cam was trying to erase my sins away !🤣that let me tell you it was such an amazing treatment and relaxing too! It really help me to improve my fine lines , resurface my skin it also helped me with my pores the collagen added was such a sweet touch!. Then I did a chemical peel, and that help me with the sun damage and but he didn’t erase my melasma . They are days after this treatment that your skin will peel this might be embarrassing to some people so really take your time to plan this. I also did lip fillers, and cheek fillers. I just wanted to know if that was something that look good on me they did a very small dose, so it was not very noticeable, but I could still feel it within six months that was gone. I don’t think I’m doing that again , then I also did Botox and that was worth every penny. You must keep up with it every three months but this is recommended to start as soon as possible! Don’t make my mistake that will cost you more money!! then I did the laser treatment as you recall, I started this whole process, trying to get rid of the spots on my face And I also must mention that this will work as long as you are consistent with it and this was used as a deep solution for the damage skin and dark spots on my skin ! This is the only thing that has actually help me! I’m very happy with the results and I will Continue till I achieve my dream skin ! I also should mention that it was painless!. I highly recommend this . I also started with the weight loss program! I’m excited about this one! Wish me luck!!😊

About Us
How quick are the results from IPL?

Some results can usually be seen following one IPL treatment, but final results develop about one month after all your treatments. It is common for your skin to see different responses following every session. You should notice gradual improvements in redness, blotchiness, age spots, and sun spots over time.

What are the possible side effects of IPL?

It's common to experience mild, temporary side effects like swelling, redness, bruising, blisters, or crusting. These subside in a few days. Your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun and you should keep in mind that excessive sun exposure can affect your results. We also recommend sunscreen to protect your skin and avoid issues like redness and spots.

Do I need to prep for IPL?

To prepare for an IPL treatment, patients are usually asked to skip self-tanners and excessive sun for 2 – 4 weeks before their procedure. You might need to stop using minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin-A/Renova a few days before your treatment, and you may want to start taking pain relievers a week before the treatment to help prevent bruising. You must also use sun protection (like a hat and sunscreen).
